Democratising data science for infectious disease surveillance
The increasing volume, variety, and velocity of epidemiological data holds great promise for applying quantitative models to help guide surveillance and prevention. Using examples from pathogen genomics, Professor Frost will discuss the tools and approaches we have been developing to enable epidemiological inferences, as well as modeling studies to explore potential pitfalls of these approaches. Through the use of automated, self-tuning, and scalable algorithms, and the development of portable platforms for research and teaching, we hope to make these new approaches accessible to a wide audience in public health.
This seminar will be delivered by Professor Simon Frost, Professor of Pathogen Dynamics from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge.
