Genetic cartography of arbovirus epidemics
Virus genomes are a valuable source of information about epidemic dynamics, but are rarely used to investigate arbovirus outbreaks in combination with epidemiological and ecological data.
Nuno Faria (University of Oxford) will provide an overview on recent research on the Zika and yellow fever outbreaks in Brazil and show that real-time genomic surveillance, when integrated with epidemiological and spatial data, could help anticipate the risk of human arbovirus exposure through space and time and monitor the likelihood of sylvatic versus urban transmission.
Please note that the main entrance of our Keppel Street building will close from Saturday 5 October until Monday 21 October for essential repairs. Alternative access will be provided on Malet Street, including an accessible route for visitors with a disability and wheelchair users. There will be signage to guide you to these entrances.
