Let’s Talk COVID-19: Historians, Policy, and Public Health
Featuring experts from a range of perspectives and disciplines, the series will present the latest research and public health analysis, stimulating thought-provoking discussion on the impacts, challenges, and lessons learned from COVID-19.

This event will be led by Historians from LSHTM’s Centre for History in Public Health.
- Susanne MacGregor is an Honorary Professor in Social Policy. One of Susanne’s current main projects is considering perceptions of health, health promotion, health services and public health over time, including consideration of notions of respectability.
- Alex Mold, Director of the Centre for History in Public Health, is a historian of public health in modern Britain and has worked on the history of heroin addiction, the role of voluntary organisations in health, the development of patient consumerism and the history of health education.
- Virginia Berridge is Professor of History and Health Policy at LSHTM. She has published on the relationship between evidence and policy; HIV/AIDS policy, swine flu, substance use and post-war public health.
- John Manton is Assistant Professor in History. His recent research has focused on the history of health planning, development, and the postcolonial state in Africa and South-East Asia since 1945
