This event will explore the politics and funding related to neglected humanitarian crises. It will include panel presentations on a few neglected crises as well as a discussion on what makes a crisis "neglected".

- Gang Karume, Rebuild Hope for Africa, speaking on the Central African Republic (remotely)
Gang Karume has more than two decades of humanitarian and development work experience in both operations and programming. He has worked in Chad, Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, the Great Lakes Region, South Sudan and Congo Brazzaville in varied roles including Country Director, Regional Operations Director and Emergency Operations Director. He is currently supporting a national non-profit organisation Rebuild Hope for Africa (RHA) as Technical Advisor and in Central Africa Republic recently spearheaded a countrywide mortality survey.
- Gabriela Villacis Izquierdo, Erasmus University, speaking on Colombia (remotely)
Gabriela Villacis Izquierdo is a Ph.D. researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies of the Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands. Her current research focuses on the alternative forms of humanitarian governance in Colombia, with an emphasis on feminist approaches and the potential of collective action, advocacy, and care. With over ten-years of combined professional experience in the public and non-profit sectors, both in her country of origin, Ecuador, and her second home, Colombia, she has developed her career in the fields of strategic management, political analysis, conflict and human rights, with a focus on Latin America.

usly head of Gender Equality & Social Inclusion at World Vision USA. Yeva’s career began in Armenia. She holds master's degrees in Sociology (Yerevan State University) and Public Administration (University of South Carolina). Yeva serves on the board of Caucasus Research Resource Center in Armenia.
- Bakri Bashir, MSF, speaking on Sudan (remotely)
Bakri Bashir is a medical doctor working for Médecins Sans Frontières in Sudan. He has 14 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and extensive operational experience in different contexts, especially in highly-fragile security contexts. He has worked on a range of issues including internal medicine, infectious diseases especially TB/HIV, coordination of medical projects in complex emergency settings with IDPs and refugees, primary health care, rural hospitals management, surgical projects, sexual reproductive health including SGBV, nutritional programs and emergency preparedness and response.
- Maysoon Dahab, LSHTM, speaking on Sudan (in person)
Maysoon Dahab is an infectious disease epidemiologist and the Co-Director of the Sudan Research Group at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her primary focus is operational humanitarian health research. Currently, she is researching the health impacts of the Sudan war and the community-led health response. Her research supports community-led approaches, where community volunteer researchers are integral to the design, implementation, analysis, and translation of research findings. She has previously conducted research with organizations such as The Aurum Institute for Health, and has collaborated with the Sudan Federal Ministry of Health.

Chiara Lepora, MSF UK (in person)
Chiara Lepora is the Director of the Manson Unit in MSF UK, and the Deputy Medical Director in MSF Operational Centre Amsterdam. Trained as a medical practitioner, since 2002, Dr. Lepora conducted and coordinated several missions with Médecins Sans Frontières (Angola, DRC, Sudan, Liberia, Somalia, Tchad, Cameroun, Philippines, and South Sudan), and with the International Committee of the Red Cross (Israel and Palestine, Morocco, Italy, Belgium, Kyrgyzstan, and Algeria).
