Opportunities and challenges of sero-epidemiology for understanding pathogen dynamics
Over the past years, high throughput multiplexed serological assays have become available, allowing simultaneous quantification of antibody responses against 100s and even 1000s of antigens, from a single sample. These novel technologies offer unprecedented opportunities to study the dynamics of multiple pathogens simultaneously, reconstruct susceptibility profiles of populations and inform control interventions. In this talk, Isabel Rodriguez-Barraquer will discuss some of the challenges and opportunities in seroepidemiology.
Speakers
Isabel Rodriguez-Barraquer, MD, PhD
Isabel is an Assistant Professor in the Division of HIV, ID and Global Medicine at UCSF. She is interested in applying novel epidemiological and statistical methods to understand the dynamics of infectious diseases. Most of her experience is related to vector-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and Zika. Isabel completed her medical training in Colombia, followed by a PhD in epidemiology and an MHS in Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2012. She has been based at UCSF since 2017.
