Programmatic considerations for integrating STI services into pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programmes
There is a high prevalence and incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STI) among PrEP users. As PrEP programmes continue to be scaled up globally, how many have integrated STI testing into their PrEP programs, and what challenges remain for implementers? Jason Ong is a sexual health physician and health economist, currently based in Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, Australia. He is an honorary Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and has appointments at Monash University and the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on the control of HIV/STIs, particularly among marginalized populations.
