The book cover also includes an image of two people sitting astride a yellow condom rocketing into the night sky which is littered with stars and a heart. The stamp 'Europe against AIDS' appears in the bottom right corner.

This webinar, to mark the publication of ‘Histories of HIV/AIDS in Western Europe,’ features historian of sexuality Professor Matt Cook, and historian of transnational activism Dr Nikolaos Papadogiannis, in conversation with the book’s editors and contributors.

Histories of HIV/AIDS in Western Europe’ showcases some of the important new work currently emerging from a resurgence of historical interest in HIV/AIDS. It introduces aspects of the epidemic over the 1980s-2000s from places including Scotland, Wales, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Switzerland, and draws attention to the experiences and activities of often-overlooked people: sex workers, drug users, mothers, nurses, social workers, and those living and working in prisons. It also examines the challenges, opportunities, and risks at the heart of how we archive and remember this epidemic.

Join us to hear about the book and discuss these and other issues connected to the histories of HIV/AIDS.
