The Youth Research Academy: Youth-focused research in Africa
To celebrate Africa Day 2021, we’re bringing you a webinar delving into the methods, learnings, and outcomes from the Youth Research Academy (YRA) led by the Zimbabwe LSHTM Research Partnership team based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
This innovative programme meaningfully engages young people in youth-focused Sexual and Reproductive Health research in Zimbabwe. Join us to hear how researchers in Africa are leading the way in embodying our principles of ‘nothing about us, without us’.
During this session, Professor Rashida Ferrand will discuss the background of the YRA and why involving youth is vital. Mandikudza Tembo will explore the innovative ways of implementing the YRA. Tatenda Madembo will also join the panel of speakers, to share her testimony as a former participant of YRA, and explain how she has applied her experience at YRA in her career to date. The panel discussion will feature YRA mentors, Constancia Mavodza and Ethel Dauya and the discussion will be chaired by Dr Chido Dziva Chikwari, Epidemiologist, Biomedical Research and Training Institute (BRTI)/London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
