Gender, norms, and violence: action and self-reflexivity
This presentation will include an introduction to what is gender, how it affects health and, more specifically, what are gender norms and how they can sustain or protect from violence. It will also look at how structures of violence against women can hide within the very systems that are meant to protect them, inviting global health activists to carry out self-reflexive practices to understand how their actions are influenced by their own norms.
