The need for a paradigm shift to hypertension diagnosis and management in sub-Saharan Africa
Most of our current understanding of the aetiological drivers, resultant phenotypes and treatment approaches of hypertension in native Africans are derived from studies in diaspora Africans. This is despite some evidence that the clinical manifestation of hypertension in native Africans differs from classical findings described elsewhere. In this session, Dr Jobe will examine the available evidence to propose new approaches to hypertension care in sub-Saharan Africa.
