Zeynep Gurtin - Understanding egg freezing: bridging clinical and sociological questions to explore a rapidly expanding phenomenon

In this talk, Zeynep will present both findings and methodological reflections from my current ongoing research on ‘social’ egg freezing in the UK. As an in-house, clinically-based social scientist (since October 2016), thoughts on the opportunities and challenges of such a unique position, as well as on (Zeynep's attempts at) bridging the various interfaces between research, clinical practice, regulation, and pubic and media debates, will be offered. Throughout, Zeynep will discuss our multi-faceted findings on ‘social’ egg freezing, and also the unanticipated ways in which our multi-disciplinary collaborations led to pertinent questions and counter-intuitive answers.
