Guide for visiting MRCG
1. Purpose of visits
MRCG is a leading health research institution in West Africa, dedicated to saving lives and improving health in The Gambia and West Africa. Visitors can explore advanced research, engage with experts, and learn about our impactful contribution to scientific research. Several current MRCG staff members formulated their career plans having visited the Unit as schoolchildren.
2. Types of visits
We receive two main types of visit requests:
Public relations visits:
- Aimed at promoting and informing the public about our activities.
- Examples include media engagements, presentations, and school visits.
Technical visits:
- Institutions seeking collaboration with MRCG can arrange technical visits.
- These visits focus on research, facilities, and potential partnerships.
- Collaborators and researchers benefit from first-hand insights.
3. How to arrange a visit
Step 1: Contact us
- If you are interested in visiting MRCG, reach out to us at information@mrc.gm
- Alternatively, you can drop a visit request letter at our main site in Fajara. We are located at Atlantic Boulevard, Fajara, with a mailing address at PO Box 273, Banjul, The Gambia.
- Feel free to contact us via telephone at (+220) (0) 7459829 / 4495446. You will be guided through the process and provided with the necessary information.
Step 2: Specify your purpose
- Clearly state the purpose of your visit (PR or technical).
- Share any specific areas of interest you would like to explore.
Step 3: Schedule the visit
- Once approved, schedule a suitable date and time referring to MRCG's visit schedule. Please note visits outside of this schedule will not be possible.
- School visits should not exceed two hours, with a maximum of 30 students.
Step 4: Prepare for your visit
- Familiarise yourself with our research themes and ongoing projects.
- Be ready to engage with experts and learn from our work.
- Your visit could be shared on our website or via our social media platforms. Ensure that everyone has filled out a photography, videography and audio consent form provided by the Communications and Engagement department. Those who do not want their picture taken should inform the department in advance.
