The MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit has donated three vehicles to the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) to enhance the research capacity at the Entebbe based Institute.

Speaking at the handover event in Entebbe, the MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Chief Operating Officer, Suzanne Rupp commended the collaboration between the two institutions. ‘The work done at both the MRC and UVRI is world leading and we hope that the donated vehicles shall be put to good use and that we shall continue to work collaboratively’.

On behalf of the UVRI, Mr. Makko Musagara the Administrator applauded the MRC for the continued support to UVRI and committed to ensuring that the vehicles are put to good use. “Over the years, UVRI has benefited from various partners but we appreciate the MRC for taking the lead in giving us this type of support. We shall ensure that the vehicles are well maintained and that they are put to good use to support research activities”, he added.

The Unit handed over three reconditioned four-wheel drive vehicles valued at more than 50million Uganda shillings to UVRI’s Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Malaria Research Projects and the Administration department.
