The MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit today welcomed interns admitted under the UVRI internship programme. The three-month internship attachment starts with an induction ceremony at which each intern takes an oath of secrecy administered by the UVRI and Unit Director Prof. Pontiano Kaleebu.

As part of the induction, presentations and discussions from different programmes, departments and sections are made, to prepare interns for their stay at the UVRI.

The UVRI internship programme enlists an average of 100 students annually, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for a minimum of three months attachment at the UVRI Entebbe campus. Other locations for attachment include Mengo, Masaka and Kyamulibwa for the MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit; and Rakai and Kalisizo for the Rakai Health Services.
