Clinical academics

Clinical academics possess expertise in both clinical and scientific research and work across all three faculties at LSHTM. They undertake clinical practice, conduct academic research, teaching and training. The mix of these elements varies across individuals and their specific roles.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) have a video on developing a clinical academic career, which is a quick guide for any healthcare professionals who may be considering a clinical academic career.

Training and courses

We operate an LSHTM Integrated Academic Training Scheme, which hosts trainees in a wide range of research areas and clinical specialties including infectious diseases, paediatrics and public health.

We run an MSc in Public Health, as well as Public Health by Distance Learning (available as a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or MSc).

We are open for intercalating medical students as part of our MSc programmes.
