- Am I eligible to attend graduation?
If you successfully pass this year you will be eligible to attend the ceremony. Those re-sitting will be eligible to attend subject to successfully completing your programme.
Doctoral students must submit the final version of their examiner-approved thesis by 7 January 2025 to be eligible to attend the ceremony. Invitations will be emailed as soon as possible after submission.
Please note, the award will need to be confirmed by the RD Examinations team before an invitation to the ceremony can be sent. The Registry is required to complete a number of administrative checks against your student record prior to confirming the award. Therefore, it is encouraged that the final submission is made at the earliest opportunity.
- I haven’t received my invitation. What should I do?
Any graduand who believes they are eligible to attend the ceremony but who has not received their invitation by mid-January 2025 should contact graduation@lshtm.ac.uk with the following details: full name, student number, programme details, whether you are an intensive or distance learning student and current email address.
- I am a graduate from a previous cohort and missed the ceremony of my cohort. Can I attend Graduation 2025?
We may be able to arrange a seat for you and your guests. Please contact us at graduation@lshtm.ac.uk to provide with the following details: full name, student number, programme details, whether you are an intensive or distance learning student and current email address.
- I cannot attend Graduation 2025. What are my options?
If you're unable to attend your ceremony and would like to defer to the next one in 2026, please email graduation@lshtm.ac.uk with your full name, student number and programme. Please note, the ceremonies will be broadcast live and a link will be shared in advance should you wish to watch virtually.
- I am a distance learning student. I've been emailed about another graduation ceremony. Which ceremony should I attend?
Distance Learning graduands are eligible to attend a University of London graduation ceremony, on 28 or 29 April 2025. This is separate from the LSHTM graduation on 26 February at Central Hall. You are welcome to attend both events. Remember you must book your attendance at the LSHTM ceremony via our registration site.
- I am a distance learning student who is continuing my studies to a higher level award. Can I still attend?
In general, if you wish to continue to a higher award, please attend only the graduation for the higher award. Where we know students are continuing to higher awards, we wait until the higher course of study is completed before inviting you to graduation. If you have been invited to the February 2025 graduation but are continuing to a higher award, please contact graduation@lshtm.ac.uk to alert us.
- Can I bring young children to the ceremony?
The ceremony lasts up to two hours and is not suitable for very young children. Babies and children aged two years and under are permitted to sit on an adult’s lap, although this is not recommended.
Children aged over two years will require a seat, and this will be included within the ticket allocation.
A crèche facility for children between the ages of 8 months and up to 10 years old will be available free of charge for the duration of the ceremony at Central Hall Westminster. You must book this service when you register your attendance, with spaces available on a first come, first served basis.
- Can I bring food and drink to the ceremony?
Attendees can bring bottles of water and can refill using the water coolers provided. No other food or drink items allowed.
- What should I wear for the ceremony?
The ceremony is a formal occasion, so please dress smartly. Most people will hire a traditional graduation gown and hat which you can do when you book your place, and wear smart clothes such as a suit or dress underneath the gown. The gown needs to be a UoL gown for the appropriate degree however you are absolutely welcome to choose to wear national dress and colours instead of a gown for the ceremony.
- I can no longer attend the ceremony. Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by our partner, Marston. Marston terms and conditions state requests must be received in writing to them, at least ten working days before the event. Regretfully we cannot offer refunds after this time.
- Is there parking available at the venue?
There is no parking at Central Hall. We strongly advise using public transport or taxis to reach the venue. The nearest underground stations are St James' Palace and Westminster. We recommend using the Transport for London site to plan your journey and check for any delays.
- How is my data used?
In order to prepare for the event, we need to process, store and share personal data. We collect data about your award, including your student ID number, name, contact email, qualification and award - this is so we can arrange the ceremony for the right people, and invite you to the right ceremony. We do not collect any other data for the graduation ceremony. We share name, student ID number and award details with our supplier Marston, who use this data to create booking forms so that you will be able to book the correct ceremony.
Our suppliers Marston collect data via the booking form, including any dietary or other requirements, and share this with us to ensure you receive the correct services at the event and we can make preparations for the smooth running of the event for all attendees.
