Insights and learnings on supporting emotional wellbeing for facilitators working with families
Working with families with children with disabilities can be emotionally challenging and those facilitating caregiver support groups need support themselves. Join us for an insightful webinar exploring insights and learning from those working in caregiving field.

The Ubuntu hub webinars aim to engage those working in early child disability including the LSHTM ‘Ubuntu Hub’ global community of practice. This will be an engaging one hour online webinar exploring the importance of providing mentorship and emotional support to facilitators running caregiver support groups.
This event is open to everyone with interest or experience in implementing programmes for children with developmental disability and their caregivers and will share learning from the Ubuntu Hub programmes.
This webinar will include:
A presentation from Friendship Bench showcasing the support and mentorship structures they use within their mental health programme. Friendship Bench is a community-based mental health intervention, originating in Zimbabwe, that uses trained lay health workers, often called "grandmothers," to provide problem-solving therapy to individuals struggling with mental health issues, particularly depression, on specially designated benches outside community health clinics.
Following this, there will by a presentation from a mental health practitioner in Uganda exploring practical coping strategies that can be used to support our own and others emotional wellbeing.
There will also be opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session.
Attendees will learn about:
- The importance of providing mentorship and support to facilitators working with families and caregiver groups
- Practical strategies to support their own and others emotional wellbeing
- Have the opportunity to share experiences, ideas and learning with global expert panel
