Speakers
Emma Jolley
Emma Jolley is working on her PhD part-time alongside her role as Head of Portfolio for health and disability research, at the international NGO Sightsavers. Her PhD study is focused on how older people with disabilities access eye health services in a remote part of Northern Uganda and is nested within a project that Sightsavers has been implementing with the Ugandan Ministry of Health since 2019 that aims to make eye healthcare in the region more inclusive of people with disabilities.
Benafsha Yaqoobi
Benafsha Yaqoobi, born in Kabul, Afghanistan, founder and director of The Rahyab Organization in Afghanistan in 2008, also founder and board member of The Rahyab Initiative in 2024, was formerly a commissioner at Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission. Benafsha is currently completing her PhD at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicines (LSHTM).
Luthfi Azizatunnisa
Luthfi Azizatunnisa is a PhD student in Epidemiology and Population Health, focusing on health insurance for people with disabilities in Indonesia. Living with tetraplegia due to a spinal cord injury, she brings personal insight into her research on healthcare access and financial protection. She is also a fellow at the Missing Billion Initiative, contributing to global disability health advocacy. Luthfi’s work aims to drive policy improvements for underserved communities.
