Green slide with LSHTM Event in white text

Electronic health records contain a wealth of clinical data that are exceptionally valuable for epidemiological studies.

In this session, a panel of experts will discuss the electronic health system record system in Thailand, Japan and Hong Kong, and share their collaborative research studies using Asian databases and UK databases.

Dr Chaisiri Angkurawaranon will discuss the learning health system using electronic health records to address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in Thailand. Dr Masao Iwagami will talk about differences and similarities between routinely collected electronic health records of the UK (e.g. CPRD) and Japan (e.g. JMDC claims database), and discuss the advantages of using both databases in research. Dr Angel Wong will introduce the healthcare system in Hong Kong and how the routine clinical data from Hong Kong can be used to study drug effects and safety as well as the comparison between the databases from the UK and Hong Kong.
