Rethinking how to understand the burden of antibiotic resistance bacteria (RHUBARB)
A joint seminar between CMMID and the AMR Centre. Speaker will present their research, focusing on evaluating the burden of AMR.
Speaker
Ben Cooper
Ben leads the Drug-Resistant Infection and Disease Dynamics group (DRIaDD) based in the NDM Centre for Global Health Research, and am also affiliated with the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit in Thailand where he was based from 2009 to 2019. The main focus of his work is developing and evaluating interventions to reduce the burden of multi-drug resistant bacterial infections with a particular focus on LMIC settings. His team designs, conducts and analyses both observational studies and randomised trials of interventions and makes extensive use of both mathematical and statistical modelling techniques to help understand within- and between-host pathogen dynamics, quantify the burden of disease, and evaluate potential interventions.
